New Year, New Look

Well.

 

Happy New Year everyone!

 

We made it to 2024, and to say that I (Makenzie) and the rest of The Mann Group team are excited for the New Year is an understatement. 

 

2023 brought its challenges - that I am sure many of you experienced for yourself, so having a fresh start, especially one like the new year, can be just what everyone needs to move forward. 

 

So, in honor of the new year, we are kickstarting a mini-series for January called “New Year, New Look.” During this series, we will talk about all things visual merchandising. 

 

Everyone’s favorite. 

 

Since my time at The Mann Group, I have noticed many pain points that retailers experience in some capacity, but the one that has stuck out to me the most is the struggle to visual merchandise successfully. For many, visual merchandising falls last in the things that need to get done, and sometimes, especially during busy seasons, it can feel better to just get the inventory out on the floor. 

 

But I am going to push back on that belief. 

 

As someone who worked in outdoor retail, I learned a lot about visual merchandising because my manager, at the time, was adamant about it. I never understood why we did half the things we did until I saw the correlation between the constant change in look and our sales.

 

Over time, I realized that visual merchandising was more than making things look “nice.” It is about showing the features of the product(s), telling a story, maximizing space, paying attention to the small details, and using numbers to strategically place the product(s) to maximize your sales. 

 

There is so much more to visual merchandising that often gets overlooked because we think customers know what they want when they come in. But what if I told you that most customers don’t know what they want? You then have the ability to make that decision for them through visual merchandising.  

 

So, over the next few weeks, we will be diving into visual merchandising so you can ring in the new year with a new look that will attract the customer base you want while telling your story and maximizing your sales.
